Field Service Management Software, Live and Free: Zorderz v1.1

Zorderz is live!

The first public version of Zorderz is v1.1, and it is available on GitHub now.

Zorderz is free and open source field service management software for WordPress, and this first release is built so people can actually start using it and the community can start to improve it.

How to try Zorderz

Click Download on this site, which takes you to the latest release on GitHub.

Download the two files listed there: zorderz-theme-1.1.zip, which is the theme, and zorderz-apps-1.1.zip, which is the set of plugins that run inside the theme.

Both files are ready to install exactly as they download, so you do not need to unzip, rebuild, or repackage anything.

In WordPress, install and activate the theme first, under Appearance, then Themes, then Add New, then Upload Theme.

Then install and activate the apps, under Plugins, then Add New, then Upload Plugin.

The order matters, because the theme sets up everything the apps plug into.

One more setup step: open Settings, then Permalinks, and choose Post name.

Then visit your homepage, and Zorderz will ask you for information about your business.

If you already have a Zorderz configuration file, you can import it here instead of filling everything in by hand.

Zorderz can be installed by anyone comfortable using and setting up a WordPress website.

Many business owners are not comfortable doing that themselves yet, and that is okay.

But if you see the benefit, this may be worth learning enough WordPress to install and manage your own Zorderz.

What’s in Zorderz v1.1

The Zorderz theme and its WordPress plugin set are made up of eighteen apps.

• Camera, for capturing photos straight into a shared media store.
• Media, for browsing and managing that shared library.
• Sketch Pad, for freehand sketches and marked-up drawings.
• Team, for internal channels and direct messages.
• Quick-ID, a shareable business identity card.
• Game, a small built-in extra.
• Invoices, for drafting and sending invoices through a connected billing provider.
• Knowledge Base, a searchable store of company facts the assistant can cite.
• Scheduler, for appointments and connected calendars.
• Jobs, for job handoffs and completion tracking.
• Surveys, for post-job satisfaction and review routing.
• Stock, for inventory and stock checks.
• Leads, for intake and qualification of new leads.
• Prep, a fabrication and preparation queue.
• Receipts, for itemized receipts and document output.
• Estimates, for building estimates from your catalog.
• Commission, for compensation and commission calculation.
• Chat, the Ai assistant grounded in your business.

None of these apps know anything about your business by default.

Once you configure the system with your business information, the apps become functional and useful for your team.

Claude helped build Zorderz

A human wrote virtually none of the code for Zorderz.

Claude, a large language model from the company Anthropic, wrote essentially all of it, guided step by step by me, Carleton Torpin.

The work happened over about four months, starting around February 2026, first as a private app for my own company and then rebuilt into this general version that any company can use.

I do not write code myself, so the way this gets made is simple: I bring the goals, the aesthetics, and the plans, Ai executes them, and I test each result until it does what I want.

Every article on this site is authored the same way, by a human and Claude together.

Anyone who improves Zorderz from here is welcome to use Ai in the same way, which is probably how it will happen.

Continual improvement of Zorderz

Zorderz v1.1 is the first step in a product that may never be finished.

Some pieces that would make it even more useful are not ready to add today, but they are on the way.

Two examples of what is coming:

• Zorderz-to-Zorderz sharing, so two businesses could grant each other permissioned access to a shared set of data through an API.
• An independent plugin marketplace, so anyone can build a useful Zorderz plugin and earn recurring revenue as installs grow, much like WordPress already works today.

If you use Zorderz and like it, share what you like.

If you use it and something is missing, share your improvement ideas.

And if you use it and have nothing to say, maybe that means you are having too much fun to stop, so keep it up and check back next week to see what we have made better.
